Course description
Addictions of all types are a serious problem. See how the dependence on a “Higher Power / God” is core to the recovery process. Learn where addictions are written about in the Bible. Understand how to help and guide a person with an addiction to recovery, faith, and available resources. How addictions hurt not just the person who is addicted but how addictions affect family, friends, and co-workers.
Prerequisites:
- Read, mark up, learn, and inwardly digest Overcoming Addiction: A Biblical Path Towards Freedom by Elizabeth A. Shartle BEFORE the class
Requirements for Course Credit:
- Attend the class and participate in class discussion.
- In a 1- to 2-page reflection paper, demonstrate your engagement with the materials. The paper should be your reflection on what was presented and discussed in the class. Include examples of how you might use the materials in your ministry, or how the material presented impacted you personally.
- Send paper to the Dean of ICS, via e-mail, no later than 30 days after the class.
